In the first half of 2021, as the world was still grappling with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, we launched a bold and inspiring initiative — The Online Internet Musical — a musical created for children, by children! 🌍🎶
During a time when theaters were closed, rehearsals were cancelled, and the performing arts world faced immense uncertainty, this project brought a spark of hope and creativity. Young artists from the United States, Canada, and the Baltics came together virtually to create "Mary Poppins: An Amazing Story" — a joyful and imaginative production that defied the limitations of lockdown.
Despite the distance and technical hurdles, the children's passion and determination turned a difficult moment into something truly magical. Their work was honored with the GRAND PRIX at the IV International Festival-Competition of Performing Arts "Baltic Wave 2021", held at the Russian Culture Center in Tallinn. 🎭🏆
This project stands as a powerful reminder that even in times of crisis, art finds a way to thrive — and that the voices of young performers can shine brightest when the world needs them most.
The fee is $30 for one number, $55 for two, $80 for three - except theater performances.

We are excited to present this unique and interesting new musical educational series “Music of the World”. The series includes ten educational performances of music from around the world. The program guarantees to have something special and dear to everyone’s heart. It is truly a musical trip around the world. In the time of limited travel opportunities, this is a great chance to experience music of Eastern and Western Europe, Asia, and Mediterranean.
With Anna Kusner (guitar, lute) and Peter Omelchenko (domra, mandolin), and Luda Bard as a narrator, Concert a la carte is an amazing group of three people that found each other through their love for music and education in the USA. Together, they share the joy of performing virtuoso interpretations of classical, folk favorites, and international music with fun and educational stories.
Peter Omelchenko, a graduate of the well-known Gnessin Academy of Music in Russia, until recently a member of Moscow’s Osipov balalaika orchestra, is a domra virtuoso, arranger, and composer who is currently a lead musician and soloist with the orchestra of the Washington Balalaika Society (WBS), with whom he had both soloed and conducted earlier as a featured guest artist.
Anna Kusner, a guitarist, graduated from the State Gnessin Music College in Moscow. In a duo with a Bolshoi Theater singer, she performed Russian art songs for several years at the Moscow Philharmonic Society. After graduating from the Academy of Music in Jerusalem in 1995, Anna performed with chamber orchestras and ensembles on Israeli TV, radio, and at music festivals. She has taught classical guitar widely, and has somehow found time to record 16 CDs.
Luda Bard, a producer, narrator, presenter, and educator. Luda has produced and narrated a number of diverse and interactive programs with Anna and Peter. When she is not performing, she is a professor of biology at HCC.

Association of Russian Speaking Theatres is supported in part by funding from the Montgomery County Government and the Arts & Humanities Council of Montgomery County.
